NEWFOUNDLAND: THE ISLANDER’S DIFFERENT DIALECTS (geographically: inland vs bay)

The different dialects are seen in an inlander, or Townie talking about an East Coast Bay resident, or someone from St. John’s.

 

The townie will  say of the bay resident.  “He talks some high-pitched, some shrill.  Listen to the way he says BEEL ON THE HEEL, instead of BILL ON THE HILL.

 

The St. John’s resident will say of the inlander :  “Bye, that townie talks some flat.”
